Most people see an infrared lamp in the bathroom and think, “Oh, a heater. Nice.” But we didn’t build these just to keep your toes warm while you get dressed. The real magic is in how they handle light. We use something called shortwave infrared. Instead of just warming the air, these rays actually dive deep into the moisture on your walls to hit mold spores and fungi right where it hurts—their organic structure.
Why your current heater isn’t working
Here’s the thing about standard heaters: they warm the air. But when that warm air hits a cold tile wall? You get condensation. That dampness is basically a luxury resort for mold. Our units do things differently. They skip the air entirely and send energy straight into your walls and ceiling. When your walls stay warm, water simply can’t settle there. It stays dry. And since mold needs water to survive, you’re basically cutting off its food supply. Plus, those high-energy photons act like a microscopic sledgehammer, breaking down the cell walls of any fungi already trying to move in.
A few things to watch out for
You can’t just throw these into any random fixture and call it a day. These things gethot. If you mount the lamp too close to cheap plastic trim or low-grade sealant, you’re going to melt your housing. Give it at least 150mm of breathing room from anything that could catch fire or warp. And a heads-up on the power: these lamps pull a lot of juice to get the intensity needed to kill mold. Make sure your wiring is up to the task. If your voltage drops, the lamp won’t hit the temperature it needs to actually dry out the room.
Keeping it running
The quartz glass on these lamps takes a beating in a steamy bathroom. One thing to remember:**don’t touch the glass with your bare hands.**Fingerprints or soap residue create “hot spots” that can cause the tube to crack. Every month or so, just give the glass a quick wipe with some isopropyl alcohol. It takes two seconds, but if you let it get dirty, you’re losing about 20% of that heat penetration. Keep it clean, and it’ll keep working.
