
Fixing the Startup Lag in SACMI Rotary Systems
If you’re running SACMI rotary blow molding machines, you know the pace is brutal. Everything moves fast. But here’s the problem: if your heating lamps take forever to wake up or can’t hit the right temperature the second they’re needed, you’re in trouble. You get messy PET preform stretching, a pile of scrap, and a lot of wasted time. We got tired of that lag, so we redesigned our quartz elements to kill it. Getting the heat moving faster To keep up with a SACMI line, you can’t have a lamp that’s “slow to warm.” We spent a lot of time tweaking the tungsten filament diameter and the internal gas pressure. Why? Because we wanted to cut down the time it takes for the lamp to actually start throwing off infrared heat. We pushed the wattage-per-centimeter higher. This means the element dumps heat into the preform the moment you flip the switch. It’s a faster ramp-up. No more standing around waiting for the machine to warm up while the clock is ticking. Built to actually fit There’s nothing worse than buying a “replacement” part that doesn’t actually fit. We use high-purity fused quartz so the tubes don’t warp when things get intense. These are true drop-in replacements. The dimensions and the connectors match what you already have, so you aren’t rewiring your whole setup. Plus, we beefed up the end-caps. You can slide them into the oven racks or wire them up without worrying about the glass cracking in your hands. The trade-off Now, look—nothing is magic. These lamps push a massive amount of energy in a very short window. That’s great for stopping the startup lag, but it does put more pressure on your power supplies and cooling fans. If you’re running these at full tilt, just make sure your oven’s ventilation can handle the extra heat. If the airflow is blocked or weak, you’re going to burn out your filaments way faster than you should.
