
No More Shivering in the Bathroom
We’ve all been there. You step out of a hot shower, the air in the dressing area is freezing, and suddenly you’re shivering while trying to get dressed. It’s the worst. To fix this, we use shortwave infrared (IR) tech. Most heaters try to warm up the air in the room, which takes forever and wastes a ton of energy. But IR is different. It sends heat straight to your skin and the surfaces around you. The result? You go from freezing to warm in a few seconds. How it actually works Inside these units, there’s a high-wattage quartz halogen lamp. We go for high power density here because we want that heat to hit you immediately. The cool thing about shortwave IR is that it doesn’t care about drafts or humidity. It doesn’t get blown around by a breeze. It’s a direct line of warmth. That’s why you feel it the second you step into the zone, even if the rest of the room is still ice-cold. The nitty-gritty on the gear We use high-purity quartz glass for the tungsten filament. Why? Because this stuff can handle the shock of turning on and off rapidly without cracking. We also add a special coating to the tube. This acts like a mirror, pushing the IR rays forward toward you instead of letting them soak into the wall behind the heater. And since bulbs eventually burn out, we use R7s spring-loaded connectors. It makes replacing the tube a simple drop-in job—no headache involved. A few things to keep in mind Here’s the catch: these heaters pull a lot of power. If you’re putting a few of these in one small area, make sure your wiring can actually handle the load. Also, these things gethot. Don’t mount them flush against anything that could burn. Give them at least 10-15cm of breathing room. It keeps your walls safe and stops the thermal cutoff from tripping and shutting everything down.
